Which child would you save?

I didn't have a lot of time to contemplate this question when our minor catastrophe happened this morning. As a mother, I tried to save both of them and was successful. I took the kids to CVS this morning (I must be in the top 10 on the insanity list) to make a photo book for Dallin (they are free after extra bucks and who can pass up a deal like that?). He is working in Dallas today and tonight so was therefore unable to help with the arrangement of the pictures. He did say he wanted like things together. There weren't that many photos and I was cruising through the process. I was nearly done, in fact I was just double checking everything. Kam was in his car seat on top the cart. Gav and Shelbi were making mischief at my feet (at least I could see them). I had already admonished Shelbi about standing on the side of the cart (these carts are VERY small and do not tolerate children standing on the sides AT ALL). Suddenly there was movement out of the corner of my eye. I turned and the cart was moving. In the first second, I didn't realize what was happening. I grabbed Kam's car seat (and the carts are so small, that the safety hook on the car seat doesn't hook onto the cart) to pull the cart closer to me and that's when I realized it wasn't rolling away. It was FALLING! The whole cart was tipping and Shelbi was underneath it. Since I was already holding the car seat (by the handle, luckily), I was able to slow the tipping cart. It happened so fast, but the tipping part was in slow motion. I wasn't strong enough to pull the cart upright. Kam didn't even cry. He barely bumped the ground, but the cart landed on Shelbi's ankle, pretty gently I might add. Talk about adrenaline. I was shaking so bad from the experience. Shelbi was okay. Didn't even have a scratch on her, or a red mark. I was blessed that moment with quick refelxes and the grace of God. Then it got me thinking....how would you choose if it came down to it? Shelbi is my little girl...my only girl right now. Kam is just a baby and I am enjoying him so much. I'm glad I was able to prevent serious injury to both of them, but the experience has left me pondering.

And, on a sillier note, as we were driving home today, I missed my turn and my kids noticed. They, of course, said something to me about driving past our street and I said, "I know. Mommy is just..." I only paused for 2 seconds when Gavin finished my sentence, "out of control. You're out of control, Mom." I laughed. What a great kid!

Has it been that long?

Kamron is 3 months in these pics! Yes, he loves his thumb and as much as it distresses me, it is really cute when babies do it!

Gav and Shelbi love to hold him (especially Shelbi).

Sigh. They grow up so fast. I can hardly believe that our little Kamron has been with us for 4 months already! He weighs 14 pounds and is 25" long. He is generally a happy baby and tolerates Shelbi mothering him very well. The time is going by too fast!
